Journey Bike Guides inc is located in the picturesque Rocky Mountains of Jasper National Park. We are on a mission to share with you some of the best Mountain bike trails and scenery that Jasper has to offer. An experience you will remember for years to come. We hope to get more people on bikes exploring the outdoors in the authentic local way.
Covid 19
We ask that if you are feeling unwell or have had a fever, cough, cold, or any other flu like symptoms in the last fourteen days that you refrain from participating in this activity. Alberta health minister has said that regional travel is now allowed but to please refrain from travelling to Alberta from outside the province or country. Please register with Alberta's health tracking app to monitor any interactions you may have had with Covid 19 cases. Please note public tours will not be available in 2020 due to the current circumstances and world pandemic. We recommend you bring hand sanitizer a mask and gloves. Please practice good hygiene and social distancing before during and after your ride. Six feet should be kept between guides and all participants. We will not be accepting cash and do offer online payment options. Thank you for you patience as we navigate these new procedures together.
Guides
All of our guides are certified with the Professional Mountain Biking Instructors Association and have advanced wilderness first aid.
Elissa has extensive experience in the outdoor mountain biking industry. She has a diverse background from racing in the flat hills of Ontario to instructing in Whistler Bike Park. Her knowledge of the Jasper trail system will take you through the maze of single track to some of the best lookouts, lakes, and scenery there is to offer. In 2018 she biked 3500km of the continental divide trail solo self supported navigating with paper maps through the Rockies from Jasper Alberta to the Mexican border over the course of 62 days. She is excited to share with you her passion for mountain biking on some of her favourite trails in North America.
Tours
We want your tour experience to be one of a kind. Our tours are suitable for every ability level from absolute beginner to the seasoned rider. Each tour is designed specially for you and your guests based on trail conditions, trail volume, ability level, and ride time. From a cruise around the lake to challenging single track climbs and descents. Bring your kids, your family, your friends, we believe mountain biking is a sport that can be appreciated at every age. Jasper’s trail network includes over one hundred trails including single track and double track from expert difficulty to beginner. The diversity from rock gardens and jumps to flowy double track we help decide which ride is best for you. Our guides are up to date with knowledge of trail conditions, trial maintenance, and trail closures to make sure you get the best out of your ride.
Abilities levels
Green (Beginner)
Selecting this level means you are new to mountain biking. You may be familiar to riding bikes but have never been on the dirt or or have only been a few times. You are looking to have a fun experience exploring the scenery and learning a few new tips.
Blue (intermediate)
This level represents those Mountain bikers who have been biking on trails. You are familiar with riding over roots and rocks. You can climb efficiently up hills and brake effectively down them. You are fit and feel comfortable doing physical activity.
Black (advanced)
Selecting this level means you know how to shred. You ride a few times a week and are comfortable with going down steep rocky terrain. Your fitness level is stellar and you can pedal fast for up to three hours. You want to find the steepest decent in the park and the toughest climbs.
Not sure where you fit in? No worries our guides are trained to determine your ability level and take you out on appropriate terrain.
What to bring
Come well rested and well fueled. We want your experience to be the best it can be. Please dress appropriately for the weather. We suggest you check the weather forecast before you arrive. Bring layers for colder days and a rain jacket when there is a chance of showers. Some mornings can start cool and heat up in the afternoon. Helmets are mandatory for everyone to wear while participating in all Journey Bike Guide tours please bring one or if you are renting one will be provided. Mountain biking gloves are beneficial but not mandatory. Please bring a full bottle of water. We recommend you wear mountain biking shoes or running shoes. Open toed shoes, ( sandels /Flip flops) are not suitable to Mountain Bike in.

Our guides carry basic tools, spare chain links, lube, and a first aid kits so you don't have to.
Wild life
Jasper National Park has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. With over 10 000 square kilometers of preserved land there are many creatures wandering around the park and surrounding trials. These could include Elk, Mountain goats, and Bears. If we come across these animals while biking we like to give them the respect and space they deserve by admiring them from a far. Elk are a common sight and can be highly aggressive animals. Our guides carry bear spray and understand the procedures necessary when encountering these animals. We expect all clients to abide by these protocols for your safety.
Trails
Jasper National Park has an extensive trail system with single track and double track cross country for every ability level. The Jasper park cycling association is our voice for mountain biking advocacy in Jasper National park.
Large groups
Journey Bike guides keeps it's rider to guide ratio small to ensure each of our guests has the best possible experience. We are happy to accommodate accordingly to large groups including business trips, school trips, club trips, tour groups, wedding party's, and sport's teams. If you have a group of ten or more riders please contact us and our tour coordinators can arrange your custom guided tour.

Bike Rentals
You can now pay in advance for your inclusive package. Hard tail Mountain bikes can be added to your tour hassle free. Full suspension bikes can also be rented upon request and paid for upon arrival. If you bring your own bike we recommend Mountain bikes with 29, 27.5, or 26 inch wheels. Full suspension or hard tails are recommended. Cross-Country and Enduro bikes are ideal. Road bikes, downhill bikes, and cruisers bikes will not be suitable. We will be pedaling on single track, double track, dirt, pavement, and loose terrain for up to three hours. Our clients come from all over the world and we know traveling with a bike can be difficult that's why we have teamed up with Vicious cycles who rent suitable affordable high end bikes.
